Trails, Waterfalls, and Marble Quarries

Lunigiana is a land rich in waterways. The Magra River flows through Lunigiana from northeast to southwest and receives numerous streams and canals. In the summertime, the streams and small lakes become the great attraction of the area. Real natural pools with crystal-clear waters, they find space among the gray stones, smooth rocks and green woods. And there is no shortage of wonderful natural waterfalls.

Adults and children can venture into the Stretti di Giaredo, small canyons carved by the waters of the Gordana stream, a true spectacle of unspoiled nature, easily accessible from Pontremoli.

There are numerous trekking trails within the Apuane Regional Park and the National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, with more than 250 kilometers of trails. Lunigiana also offers hospitality to mountain biking, cycling and horseback riding enthusiasts. Not only in summer but all year round.

In winter in Zum Zeri, in the municipality of Zeri, the Lunigiana ski resort is open, from where it is possible to admire a breathtaking panorama all the way to the sea of the Ligurian coast on clear days. In the National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines we point out Prato Spilla, a ski resort at 1350 m above sea level, and Cerreto Laghi (1344 m above sea level).

The village of Equi Terme, on the slopes of Pizzo d'Uccello, in the municipality of Fivizzano, with its caves, hosts the Living Nativity in the Christmas season, with figurants in period costumes. In the renowned spa town, numerous geo-naturalistic trails and museum educational facilities make it a must-see.

Finally, exclusively for our guests we offer you the opportunity to visit the wonderful Carrara Marble quarries at a very special price.
